Have you ever seen a robot dance, play soccer, or participate in a simulated rescue exercise?
This weekend you can witness robots perform the unthinkable, as hundreds of school students from across Australia and the world, compete in RoboCup Junior Australia.
Held at The University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus on Saturday and Sunday, RoboCup Junior allows students to refine their artificial Intelligence and robotics skills in a fun and educational setting.
Head of UQ’s School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, Professor Paul Strooper said the University was excited to be able to host the national RoboCup Junior competition in 2013.
“Each year I am amazed at the high calibre of robotic projects which are being produced by school students,” Professor Strooper said.
“It’s a fantastic event for UQ to be part of, one which makes me excited for the future of Australia’s engineering and ICT industries.”
