More than 4,750 students have received offers to study at The University of Queensland in the State’s major offer round taking the total number so far to more than 9,900 for Semester 1.
This round included places across all of the University’s undergraduate programs, including provisional medicine, physiotherapy, and veterinary science.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said there were still places available for students aiming to study at UQ this year.
“If you’re still considering your study plans for 2024, it’s not too late to apply,” Professor Terry said.
“We'll continue to make offers right up until the start of classes in February, so there's still time to put in your application.
“Your preferred field of study may be within reach, as ATAR requirements in some courses are a little lower than last year.”
Professor Terry said Law and Engineering were the most in demand courses at UQ this year with strong increases in applications. Applications were also up in business management and dental science.
“We’re also looking forward to welcoming more than 1,700 students from regional areas and more than 750 from low socio-economic areas which speaks to our commitment to make education and opportunity accessible for all Queenslanders.”
Professor Terry reassured students that they shouldn’t be disheartened if they hadn’t received their first preference offer.
“There may be other options you can explore, such as conditional acceptance or alternative pathways into a preferred course,” she said.
“Our team at UQ's Future Students Contact Centre can help you to explore next steps.
“UQ is still accepting applications and change of preferences for most programs until Thursday 8 February.”
