Brisbane is hosting some of the world’s brightest young entrepreneurs at The Global Innovative Youth Conference, thanks to the University of Queensland Idea Network.

The inaugural conference will be the first of its kind in the Pacific region, and aims to showcase Brisbane’s business start-up culture to entrepreneurs from across the globe.

A group of 10 students from The University of Queensland and the Queensland University of Technology will host the conference with the support of UQ’s Idea Network, an international initiative designed to help aspiring entrepreneurs develop their ideas into successful ventures.

Idea Network President Farhan Huq said delegates from Peking University, National University of Singapore, Keio University, Aalto University, Hanken School of Economics, University of Indonesia and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology would attend the week-long conference.

“The Global Innovative Youth Conference is an initiative by students to promote entrepreneurship to a global audience,” Mr Huq said.

“We plan to overcome international barriers and create a collaborative community of young business leaders from all over the world.”

Conference Marketing Executive and Brisbane entrepreneur Nicholas Jenkins said the conference would give budding entrepreneurs the skills and tools to turn their ideas into feasible businesses.

“It is an opportunity for students to see past the nine-to-five grind and experience, if only for a short time, the life of an entrepreneur,” he said.

“It will be an opportunity for young innovators to form both global business partnerships and global friendships.”

The non-profit conference is sponsored by the UQ Advantage Office, the UQ Business School, UQ Marketing and Communications, the UQ Union, iLab, Brisbane Marketing, Red Hat and Creative Enterprise Australia.

The conference will be held at a variety of venues across Brisbane from 29 June to 4 July. For more information visit http://globalinnovativeyouth.com/
