The strategy addresses key health priorities and harnesses expertise across disciplines and institutions, through funding a total of $50 million since 2000 to a number of university departments across Australia. 2011 is the final year of the PHCRED program and will be replaced in 2012 by Centres of Research Excellence, three of which have been announced with additional CRE opportunities to be advertised in early 2011.
