Jazz great James Morrison and a six piece band featuring John Morrison on drums and vocalist Emma Pask will perform at The University of Queensland on June 5 at the UQ Centre, Union Rd from 7.30pm.

Vocalist Emma Pask met James Morrison when she was 16 and she has been touring with him ever since. He has described her as the “greatest gift to Australian jazz vocals in the past decade”.

John Morrison is one of the most sought after jazz drummers working in Australia today.

This superb line-up will be supported by the Cannon Hill Anglican College Big Band with guests from UQ’s Brass Ensemble.

The concert has been organised by UQ’s Chaplaincy Services to raise the profile of the Aussie International Friendship Program (AIFP), a group designed to assist new domestic and international students settle in to university life through a variety of events and activities.

Concert coordinator Reverend Peter Rama Rau from Chaplaincy Services said AIFP works closely with various clubs and social groups at UQ.

“AIFP organises different activities including city tours, concerts and programs on campus. It is also involved in soccer and rugby tournaments,” Revd Peter said.

“By attending the concert, you will be privileged to hear Australia’s most versatile instrumentalist and jazz musician as well as supporting a worthwhile cause.”
