The University of Queensland will lead two of the 10 new Australian Learning and Teaching Council priority projects announced today.

The ALTC has just injected more than $2 million into the higher education sector, with these projects. This recent round of grants will see collaborations between a total of 32 institutions, including three international universities.

A significant number of these projects will focus on the priority area of curriculum renewal, across a variety of disciplines.

Ms Kelly Matthews, of UQ's Teaching and Educational Development Institute will lead an international project team to address the quantitative skills and confidence of science students; issues that are currently of much concern within the discipline.

Professor Caroline Crosthwaite, of UQ's Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology, has been funded $219, 000 to evaluate the Engineers Without Borders challenge for first year engineering students, a recent innovation which has been implemented in most universities across Australasia.
