Students from Australia and abroad will enjoy a taste of Vietnam's culture, country and people at the Vietnam Students Festival 2008 (VSF2008) on October 3.

Held by the Vietnamese Students Association in Queensland, the festival has received support from The University of Queensland, Griffith University, the Vietnam Embassy in Australia, the Vietnamese Overseas Committee, some Vietnamese cities and provinces and high-profile resorts in Vietnam.

University of Queensland postgraduate student Truong Thuy, who is in charge of VSF2008 musical performance, said the festival would offer a special opportunity for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Vietnamese students and their international friends.

“The theme of the event is ‘Taste Vietnam’ and it will be a reflection of Vietnam beauty with a range of cultural and entertainment activities in an atmosphere of international friendship,” Ms Truong said.

Guests will enjoy Vietnam's traditional rich musical performance, photo and cultural object exhibition, cuisine and film show.”

Raffle tickets will also give guests the chance to win from a prize pool worth $1000.

“Guests to the festival can try their luck with special offers at Vietnam's renowned five-star resorts as well as a variety of traditional gifts.” Ms Truong said.

VSF2008 is held at Queensland College of Art, 226 Grey Street, South Bank, from 2-7.30pm on October 3. The festival is open to public and entry is free.
