The unique sound of electronic music blended with the classic cello will drift from the depths of the Spring Hill Reservoir in a home-coming concert for University of Queensland graduate Connor D’Netto.
The composer and performer has been living in London for the past year, and is returning to Brisbane with his latest music project — a duo with American cellist Ben Baker.
“We Are Breathing merges our backgrounds in contemporary classical music with electronica, alternative rock, folk music influences and improvisation,” Connor said.
“Our sound is rich, complexly layered and detailed, yet it’s tender and highly emotive.”
We Are Breathing will perform four concerts in Australia, starting in Brisbane with an immersive night combining virtuosic performances, surround-sound electronics and dazzling visuals.
The duo will be joined by contemporary classical artists Kieran Welch and Loni Fitzpatrick, who will each perform electroacoustic sets with the voila and harp.
“For our second concert in Brisbane we’ll team up with local percussionist Caleb Colledge for an improvisation show of electroacoustic sounds as part of the local series Made Now Music,” Connor said.
Connor is a composer who is pursuing his interest in electronic music and Ben Baker is a classically trained cellist who enjoys experimenting with different music genres.
“We Are Breathing brings all of this together and our diverse backgrounds, interests and influences creates a unique sound that is unconstrained by style or genre,” Connor said.
