UQ’s premier downtown restaurant, function and heritage facility, Customs House, has won yet another highly feted hospitality award.

Customs House won the Queensland/Northern Territory award for ‘Best Contemporary Australian Restaurant – Formal’ at the Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards in Excellence.

The Brisbane heritage icon was a finalist in two other categories, Wedding Caterer and Function and Convention Centre Caterer.

Customs House Director Brian Roberts said many factors contributed to the landmark venue’s success.

“With its heritage surroundings and fresh seasonal produce sourced daily by our kitchen brigade, Customs House offers a unique dining experience,” he said.

“Excellent food, an extensive wine list, fantastic views, and friendly professional staff mean our guests enjoy riverside dining at its best.”

Customs House caters for more than 66,000 guests at about 60 weddings and 700 other events each year. Its restaurant also serves 25,000 diners a year.

Mr Roberts attributed the popularity of Customs House to the quality of its food and the determination of its staff to exceed guests’ expectations.

“I am very proud of my team who have made this award possible,” he said.

“Their work helps cement our reputation for delivering exceptional service while guests enjoy quality cuisine in a Brisbane heritage landmark,” he said.
