Brisbane landmark Customs House has won South-East Queensland’s Caterer of the Year award.
Customs House – The University of Queensland’s city presence –also won top awards as wedding caterer and function/convention centre caterer at this month’s Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering HOSTPLUS awards in Excellence.
Customs House Director Brian Roberts said it was the second time Customs House had won the South-East Queensland’s Caterer of the Year award.
“We are delighted to win such a prestigious award two years in a row,” Mr Roberts said.
“Awards such as these are testimony the fact that we are providing guests with the best service possible, and are a strong recommendation especially to individuals and groups coming from out of town.
“Customs House is one of Brisbane’s heritage icons, and that’s an asset for us.
“We were successful against other top venues such as the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre and City Hall,” he said.
Customs House caters for more than 66,000 guests at about 60 weddings and 700 other events each year. Its restaurant also serves 25,000 diners a year.
Mr Roberts attributed the popularity of Customs House to the quality of its food and the determination of its staff to exceed guests’ expectations.
“Guests can be assured of excellent food, fantastic river views and friendly professional service,” he said.
“The cuisine is modern Australia, with ingredients sourced locally and organically as much as possible.
“We are well-known for our unique functions for clients who want to add the elegance of Brisbane’s heritage to their contemporary event,” he said.
The venue will compete to retain its National title from last year in October at an award ceremony in Melbourne.
Customs House hosts free Sunday concerts coordinated by UQ’s School of Music, and is a popular destination on the annual Brisbane Open House itinerary.
