Two freshwater turtles and an eastern water dragon have swapped the hectic life of the inner city for St Lucia’s picturesque University of Queensland Lakes.

UQ accepted the creatures, which previously lived in a pond in Spring Hill, from the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

The freshwater lakes are one of the iconic features of the St Lucia Campus, home to many native species of birds, aquatic and land animals and native flora.

The new residents appeared happy in their new home.
