The University of Queensland has applauded the recent Federal Budget, which includes $194 million in funding for UQ infrastructure projects.

The projects include:

- $104 million for an Oral Health Centre that will treat about 17,000 dental and cancer patients each year and help alleviate a national dentist shortage;

- $50 million for an Advanced Engineering Building that will enable the transformation of engineering education, with deeper integration between industry, education and research; and

- $40 million for a Translational Research Institute, a partnership with other leading Brisbane research institutions, that will more effectively translate laboratory success into benefits for patients.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Greenfield said the funds were a tremendous investment in national research capacity, health and a sustainable economy.
