Forty-seven University of Queensland (UQ) professional staff members have been recognised as "Miracle Workers”.

UQ Chancellor Mr John Story presented the awards to the University's “quiet achievers” at at the Sir Llew Edwards building on Monday (August 26).

Colleagues and supervisors nominated this year's Miracle Worker award recipients.

UQ Human Resources Division Associate Director Dr Kerry Huish said the Miracle Worker Awards recognised professional staff (HEW 1-7) who provided first-class assistance and enhanced the work environment.

“It is important to recognise the hard work and dedication of the professional staff at UQ,” Dr Huish said.

“For those receiving the awards, it acknowledges their outstanding qualities and contribution to UQ.

“Miracle workers are recognised for a range of qualities, including sharing knowledge and excellent customer service.

“They are often described as the ‘go-to’ person in their area, often going above and beyond expectations in order to get the job done.”

This year’s award nominations included 44 individuals and three teams across a range of faculties, institutes and central divisions.

“Generally these roles are not in the spotlight but rather are behind the scenes supporting the University’s objectives of learning, discovery and engagement,” Dr Huish said.

“In addition to congratulating the Miracle Workers, it’s also important to thank the staff who took the time to nominate them.”
