The University of Queensland has been recognised for teaching excellence with six Australian Learning and Teaching Council citations.
UQ joins a record number of institutions from around Australia awarded citations, as part of a commitment from the Australian Government to promote quality learning and teaching.
The awards recognise and reward teaching excellence in the higher education sector, with each citation worth $10,000.
More than $2 million will be awarded to 206 individuals and teams at ceremonies throughout August.
UQ Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Deborah Terry congratulated the citation winners, saying UQ’s academic staff were continuously at the cutting edge of their disciplines.
“The winning teachers hail from a number of different fields, from the School of Veterinary Science to the Schools of Music and Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, displaying the exceptional skill and knowledge at UQ,” Professor Terry said.
“The University of Queensland has won more national teaching awards than any other Australian university since their inception, reinforcing its dedication to ensuring the best outcomes for students.”
UQ teachers will receive their awards at the Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane on Tuesday, August 18.
UQ's citation recipients included five individuals and one group nomination:
• Dr Stephen Anderson – For inspiring and motivating veterinary science students to learn through a creative, relationship-centred approach to teaching.

• Dr Felicity Baker – For the design of innovative learning activities that develop analytical, critical and reflective thinking across a range of key learning areas in music therapy.
• Dr Victor Galea – For creating high-impact learning experiences for plant pathology students using authentic industry cases and contexts and innovative applications for technology.
• Dr Carrie Ritchie – For the development and coordination of innovative, responsive programs and courses in the health sciences that reflect workforce needs.
• Professor Tapan Saha – For enhancing undergraduate and postgraduate power engineering education through leadership in industry engagement, in work-integrated learning and the collaborative development of innovative postgraduate programs.
• UQ Librarians (Referencing Software Support Team) – Referencing Software Service: Ongoing service innovation supporting scholarly writing by providing internationally renowned expertise in support of referencing software, training and individual services for students.
