By harnessing the chemicals produced by the reef’s animals, plants and microbes, experts can help cure disease, concentrate valuable metals from the ocean, and manufacture structures beyond human engineering.
Researchers also use our world-class facilities to understand how rising temperatures and ocean acidification affect reefs, and create innovative techniques to restore reefs and enhance recovery.

Reefs hold the key to unlocking answers to many of society’s greatest challenges.
