The University of Queensland has made 9842 offers to date in the Queensland Tertiary Admission Centre (QTAC) rounds, 7839 offers in this week’s round (January 14) and 2003 offers in the early round in December 2009.

UQ Director of Planning Ken Richardson said that there was a marked increase in demand for UQ programs this year.

“This factor, combined with the fact that our capacity for growth is limited, has led to more stringent cut-off scores in about two-thirds of the programs we offer,” he said.

Programs that showed the highest growth in the number and quality of applicants included nursing (based at the UQ Ipswich campus), reflecting consumer recognition of the program’s quality reputation.

Mr Richardson said there was strong demand “across the board” for UQ courses.

Students have until Friday, January 22 to respond to the January 14 offer round. UQ will make further offers in the February 4 offer round.
