People wishing to study at UQ in 2006 can still lodge applications via the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).

Although September 30 was the closing date for on-time applications, applicants can still apply via QTAC, although late processing fees will apply, which are listed on the QTAC website www.qtac.edu.au.

University of Queensland Vice-Chancellor Professor John Hay AC said UQ was one of Australia’s best universities.

“UQ qualifications are internationally recognized, and will stand you in good stead throughout your life,” he said.

The University of Queensland is Queensland`s oldest and largest University and offers more than 6000 courses and 400 programs.

UQ is in the top five Australian universities and the only Queensland university to perform outstandingly well in a recently published table of teaching quality at 38 publicly-funded Australian universities.

The University of Queensland has again received the best overall rating of all Queensland universities and one of the best Australian university rankings in the 2006 edition of the Good Universities Guide (GUG). It has also won more national teaching excellence awards than any other Australian university.

UQ received the maximum five-star rating for key indicators including “student demand”, “positive graduate outcomes” (reflecting both graduate employment and continuation to further study), “staff qualifications”, “research grants”, and “research intensiveness”.

UQ has three main campuses — UQ St Lucia, UQ Ipswich and UQ Gatton, all of which combine the latest technology in teaching, course delivery and research infrastructure.

The University is a member of the Group of Eight, an elite group of universities which conducts 70 percent of all University research in Australia. UQ is one of only three Australian members of Universitas 21, an international network of comprehensive, research-intensive universities committed to quality through benchmarking against world-best practice.
