School leavers and people considering their options for entry into higher education programs can receive assistance at a University of Queensland Tertiary Options Session next week.

UQ Admissions will run the session in the UQ Centre Lecture Theatre on Union Road at the St Lucia campus on Monday, December 20 between 6pm and 8pm to coincide with the release of the OPs.

The session will provide advice about the QTAC application process, satisfying entry requirements and information on how to best use preferences.

The Queensland Studies Authority intends posting Tertiary Entrance Statements and Senior Certificates to students on Friday, December 17. Students can also register to receive their results online from 9am on Saturday, December 18.

Current Year 12 applicants have until Wednesday, January 5 to change their QTAC preferences in time for the major offer round in mid January.

A half hour presentation at 6pm will include information on:
- Entry requirements - prerequisites and Entry Rank (OP)
- Picking up prerequisites if you don’t have them
- The QTAC process for allocation of places
- Choosing and changing QTAC preferences
- Pathways if you miss out on your desired program, including options to improve your Entry Rank
- Calculation of Entry Ranks
- The QTAC offer process - what to expect - how to respond
- Scholarships at UQ

Staff from faculties, schools and the scholarships office will be available after the presentation to speak with prospective students and provide detailed information on their programs.
