The University of Queensland will offer a limited number of places in the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) mid-year offer round for commencement in second semester 2001.
University Admissions manager Claron Driscoll said the UQ Ipswich and Gatton campuses, which are both still expanding, would have the most places available for mid-year entry.
"With all the exciting courses on offer, it provides great opportunities for applicants who may have been too late to apply for first semester," she said.
"The expected cut-offs for courses at the Ipswich campus are likely to be similar to first semester."
Ms Driscoll said the mid-year intake was designed to provide flexibility and to address student needs.
She said mid-year entry was the perfect opportunity for those prospective students who were too late lodging a QTAC form for first semester, or for those whose circumstances had changed in the first half of the year and they now found they had time to study.
While the University had experienced a continuing high level of demand for entry there were also some places available at the University's St Lucia campus in 2001 for suitably qualified applicants, with entry scores remaining fairly high.
QTAC application forms will be available from the third week of April from the Student Centres at the University of Queensland's St Lucia, Ipswich and Gatton campuses, or at Brisbane Customs House. Forms can also be collected from the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre at Milton or any TAFE college or University campus in Queensland.
Applications may also be made via the QTAC website: http://www.qtac.edu.au
The closing date for on-time mid-year applications will be Friday, May 18, 2001. The Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre will make first round offers on Wednesday June 13, with the final round scheduled for Tuesday, July 3, 2001.
