- Purpose
This module will provide an understanding of the basic concepts for organising and summarising the data that underlies all statistical methods.
Learning objectives
On completing this module, participants will be able to:
1. recognise the relevance of data for problem solving
2. identify the structure and nature of data
3. understand variability within data and why it is important
4. recognise different forms and types of data
5. understand techniques to summarise data.
Who should attend, and module pre-requisites
This module is designed for people who rely on data in their everyday work. It assumes little to no prior knowledge of the technical aspects of data and statistics. Those who need a greater understanding of these basic concepts, or who would like a refresher in them, should enrol in this course.
