Event Description

Full Description:
Join us for the opportunity to listen to ARC Future Fellow and Head of the Inflammasome Laboratory at IMB Associate Professor Kate Schroder.

A/Prof Schroder and her team’s research focuses on understanding how immune cells launch healthy inflammation to fight infection, and unhealthy inflammation to promote disease. By understanding exactly how the body fights infection, we can help identify new drug targets or vaccines to combat infectious disease, which cause 13 million deaths globally each year. This research may also be able to design new strategies for the treatment of common diseases such as cancer, gout and diabetes.

Session Overview:
Presentation from A/Prof Schroder.
Guided tour of A/Prof Schroder’s laboratory. (lab coat and glasses provided)
Meet with A/Prof Schroder and her team over light morning tea
