Full Description:: This Lecture and following discussion is to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the launch of Professor Kay Saunders co-authored seminal work, Race Relations in Colonial Queensland. When first published in 1975 there was a lack of scholarly research and publications on the relations between Caucasian immigrants to Australia and the Indigenous population on the one hand, and non-White immigrants such as Chinese, Japanese and Melanesians on the other. This is an important piece of scholarship which is worth revisiting.
