ABSTRACT

Women have made up more than 50% of undergraduates at Australian universities for 30 years, yet continue to be underrepresented at senior levels. Why is gender equity still a problem? Why should it be addressed? How can we (men and women) change what we do to tackle this issue?

About Prof. Jennifer Martin

Prof. Jennifer Martin is a structural biologist from the Institute of Molecular Bioscience at The University of Queensland. She has held many prestigious Fellowships during her career including an ARC Australian Laureate Fellow. Her Laureate research focused on developing new anti-bacterials to overcome antibiotic resistance. Over the past few years she has used her high profile to address gender equity in science through her roles on the NHMRC Women in Health Science Committee and the Australian Academy of Science 'Science in Australia Gender Equity' forum.
