Full Description:
The Papers of Walter Cunningham Hume (1840-1921), surveyor and Chief Commissioner for Lands for Queensland are among the Fryer Library's significant heritage collections. Photographs from the collection provide a window into the personal and public world in which the Hume family lived. The Hume Collection is part of Picture Australia.

Speakers: Dr Hilary Davies is the author of Surveying success: the Hume family in colonial Queensland. Mr Bill Kitson is the co-author, along with Dr Judith McKay, of Surveying Queensland 1839-1945 : a pictorial history. Mr Andrew Yeo has photographed the collection for preservation and access via the University's repository, UQ eSpace.

Presented as part of the 2015 Friends of the Library Program.
