Event Description

Full Description:
Some thinkers contend that integrity contains laudable moral elements. Others insist it poses grave moral dangers. I argue that each of these positions helps answer the other. Integrity’s specific moral characteristics constitute a targeted response to the ways integrity would (otherwise) be morally dangerous. I argue for this thesis by teasing out the particular types of moral danger that integrity poses and by considering the ways integrity responds to those dangers by demanding acts of principled compromise. Ultimately, integrity empowers us to be fit for society, even as we are true to ourselves.
