Event Description
- Full Description:
- Yom HaShoah or “Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust” is observed every year as a day of commemoration for the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust.
The Asia Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect of the School of Political Science and International Studies in collaboration with the UQ Jewish Students Association is pleased to host a public event commemorating Yom HaShoah or Holocaust Remembrance Day. As we strive to live up to the motto of ‘Never Again,’ the event will focus on remembering the tragedies of the Holocaust, hearing survivors’ stories, and discussing the measures being taken by the United Nations under the principle of the Responsibility to Protect to ensure that such events happen never again. Speakers from the UQ Jewish Students Association, including invited guests, will be joined by Director of the Asia-Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect, Alex Bellamy, to commemorate Yom HaShoah, and discuss its legacy.
