Event Description

Full Description:
We are delighted to invite you to the 6th Annual Steve Irwin Memorial Lecture, proudly presented by The University of Queensland and Australia Zoo.

The 2014 speaker is Dr Hamish Campbell from The University of New England, who is an expert in the emerging field of movement ecology.

From whales to wombats, from bats to bees – throughout Australia, thousands of animals are currently being tracked and monitored.

This research is helping scientists to better understand the patterns, causes, and consequences of animal movement. However, the application of animal movement information into management and conservation is still in its infancy.

Dr Hamish Campbell is a world authority on animal movement research, and has tracked fish, sharks, birds and reptiles, from the tropics to the poles.

Join Dr Campbell as he discusses the tracking studies of some of Australia’s most enigmatic animals. Will knowing ‘where the wild things go’ help us to conserve them?

This is a free event. Please register to secure your seat.
