Course description

(offered in even years only) Quantum Optics & Stochastic Processes is the study of interactions between matter and the radiation field where quantum and stochastic effects are important. The implications for the conceptual foundations of quantum mechanics and nonclassical effects which arise from the quantization of the electromagnetic field will be considered. Students will develop a good understanding of the principles of quantum and atom optics and be able to apply the principles to many current key problems of quantum and atom optics.
