Course description

The course offers an overview of 20th century and contemporary Spain. It will focus on an array of different facets of Spanish cultural production (art, cinema, literature and history). This course aims to develop the students' understanding of major cultural aspects of the last century in Spain and provide exposure to outstanding cultural texts of this period. Topics such as the art of the Spanish Surrealism, the Civil War, religion and society, and the transition to democracy will be discussed.
