Course description

Applied domestic animal reproduction and reproductive management, including (1) breeding soundness evaluation, (2) methods of semen collection, (3) oestrus synchronisation, (4) oocyte pick-up and in-vitro fertilisation, (5) artificial insemination, (6) embryo transfer, (7) embryo and gamete cryopreservation, (8) controlling post-partum ovarian activity, (9) controlling puberty, (10) controlling seasonal breeding, (11) pregnancy diagnosis, (12) controlling parturition, (13) cloning technology, (14) production of transgenic animals, and (15) contraceptive technology. A highlight of the course will be participation in a cattle AI school (UQ certificate of completion provided) and implementation of an embryo transfer program to result in the production of live young.
