It's that time of year when the Jacarandas bloom, brightening the campus with their shades of purple. It is during this season that we all can’t help but feel a little giddy as we search for our special spot around campus that is shaded under the majestic jacaranda trees. This time of year is special and we thought it was only right that we celebrate it.

BLOOM – A UQ Jacaranda Festival, will take place from Monday 22 October to Friday 26 October and will be symbolic of all our achievements celebrating the blossoming ideas, community and beauty across the University of Queensland over the past year. The festival will kick off with The Long Table Dinner, a delicious ticketed feast by the UQ Lakes for students, staff and alumni to celebrate the end of semester and will continue throughout the week with a series of FREE pop ups and activations that will highlight the themes of the festival: celebrate, innovate and illuminate.

Over the course of this week we want students, staff and the community to relax under their favourite jacarandas where they will find pop up entertainment, activities and study spaces. There will also be a jacaranda walk for all to enjoy by day, and a jacaranda themed night walk that will turn our UQ Lakes luminescent with a brilliant light installation. There will also be plenty of things to discover and get involved in across campus with our BLOOM partners UQ Sport, iLab, RedRoom, Wordies Café, Lakeside Cafe and more, offering a variety of BLOOM inspired events and activities. More details about what is happening at St Lucia, Gatton and Herston can be found below.
