Key dates for Queensland Health Targeted Clinical Research Fellowships Round 1 (2024)​

Overview

The Clinical Research Fellowships (CRFs) are intended to support Queensland Health clinician researchers undertake research linked to their practice. The Targeted CRF (TCRF) program sits alongside the general CRF program and is designed to support researchers and their high-impact research projects within the following four streams:

  • First Nations – $20,000 - $100,000 over 1-2 years.
  • Rural & Remote – $50,000 - $125,000 over 1-2 years.
  • Women’s Research – $50,000 - $125,000 over 1-2 years.
  • Genomics – Up to $125,000 over 1-2 years.

How to apply

Internal notice of intent process

Researchers intending to submit an application for which UQ will be the administering organisation OR a partner organisation are required to submit an internal Notice of Intent. NOIs will be collated centrally and distributed to Faculties and Institutes in order to provide maximum support to the UQ research community.

UQ as partner organisation

Researchers submitting applications on which UQ is a partner organisation should send the following documents to UQ R&I as soon as possible:

  • Application form
  • DRAFT UQ letter of support
  • Complete and fully signed UQ Funding Application Coversheet (link below)
  • Evidence of any UQ cash contributions

Please note that unfortunately the UQ Research Office does not have capacity to provide feedback on applications on which UQ is a partner organisation.

UQ as lead organisation

Step 1:  Scheme reading

  • Familiarise yourself with the key Queensland Health and UQ documentation (see links below).

Step 2: Completing the application

  • Download and complete the Application Form available from the Queensland Health webpage (link below).
  • Prepare the required supporting documentation including:
    • Letters of support (templates below)
    • QHealth Funding Agreement Declaration page with the top half signed by the prospective fellow (the bottom half will be signed by the UQ Research Office).
  • Prepare UQ administrative documents:
    • Complete and fully signed Funding Application Coversheet (link below)
    • Complete UQ Costing and Pricing Tool
    • Evidence from Head of School/Institute/Centre that any salary gap will be covered (e.g., email confirmation, incl. gap amounts by year)

Step 3: UQ R&I internal review and feedback

  • In advance of internal review, ensure all required documentation is complete and certified, where necessary.
  • To initiate internal review, email your completed and certified Application Coversheet, draft Application Form and draft Letters of Support as word documents to UQ R&I at grants@research.uq.edu.au
  • UQ R&I will perform an internal review for compliance, eligibility and grantsmanship and will provide feedback.

Step 4: Final submission

  • Email your finalised Application Form with all required attachments to UQ R&I at grants@research.uq.edu.au
  • After final checks, UQ RO will submit your application on your behalf.

Important information regarding final submission: The official external deadline for applications is 11:59pm on Monday, 19 February. Applications must be submitted to Queensland Health by the administering organisation. This means the effective external deadline for applications on which UQ is the administering organisation is 4:30pm on 19 February.
