Associate Professor Linda Lua is the Foundation Director of the Protein Expression Facility at the University of Queensland, which was formed in 2004. Her unique role allows her to research and develop technologies to produce products that range from simple biomolecules to complex biomolecular assemblies such as multi-protein virus-like particles. These developments have impacted research broadly by enabling cutting-edge research across diverse groups in the University and the wider research community in Australia. The expertise and capabilities to conduct recombinant protein production (from molecular cloning to protein recovery) within both prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression hosts, and the enhancement with a high-throughput multi-hosts expression platform, have generated thousands of DNA constructs and hundreds of proteins. Her technological research focus has also lead to patents on producing valuable biomolecules for agricultural and vaccine applications.
