A University of Queensland Business School PhD student has successfully applied for Smart State funding for her research into corporate sustainability.
Ms Sally Hall-Thompson has won a Smart State PhD Scholarship from the Department of State Development, Trade and Innovation.
Ms Hall-Thompson said the scholarship consisted of an additional $7000 per year for living expenses on top of her Commonwealth-funded Australian Postgraduate Award.
"My research investigates the role of decision makers in shaping the way organizations respond to environmental issues," she said.
“The key aim is to identify and develop the critical managerial skills and competencies that contribute to environmentally sustainable practices.”
Ms Hall-Thompson’s supervisor Dr Andrew Griffiths is a leading researcher in the areas of corporate sustainability and the impact of climate change on business.
Griffiths said the support from the Queensland Government was an indication of the importance and relevance of the research.
