The subject of Challenging Issues for Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century will be discussed at The University of Queensland this week.
Media are invited to attend the 2005 Effective Teaching and Learning (ETL) Conference, which will be held from November 3 to 4, during UQ`s fourth annual Teaching and Learning Week.
The ETL Conference, to be held at UQ`s Institute for Molecular Bioscience Auditorium at the St Lucia campus, is being organised by the University`s Teaching and Educational Development Institute (TEDI).
TEDI Director Denise Chalmers said the conference would provide an opportunity to explore issues including teaching creativity, professional knowledge, graduate attributes, teaching effectively and the student experience.
“The conference is a collaborative endeavour between UQ, Griffith University and the Queensland University of Technology and we welcome the opportunity to host this conference in 2005 and 2006," Ms Chalmers said.
“We have particularly focused on providing challenging addresses and forums led by outstanding speakers."
Winner of the 2004 Prime Minister`s Award for University Teacher of the Year Professor Mark Israel, who is Associate Dean (Research) in the School of Law at Flinders University, will deliver a keynote speech. Preparing students for the challenges of the 21st Century will take place on November 4 at 9.30am.
The conference will be held during UQ`s fourth annual Teaching and Learning Week from October 31 to November 4.
During the conference and throughout the Week opportunities will be available, through a number of workshops and forums, to engage teachers in discussions on issues that will impact on teaching and the student learning experience.
UQ`s own outstanding teachers were rewarded for their dedication at the Teaching and Learning Excellence Awards at Customs House on October 31, one of the highlights of the Week. To view the list of winners click here.
