Primary producers frustrated with searching the Internet can get a helping hand from the experts at UQ Gatton Open Day on Sunday, August 24.

The UQ Gatton Library will offer a free two-hour workshop from 10am and bookings are essential (telephone 5460 1137).

Gatton Library Manager Karen Seymour said primary producers were invited to take advantage of the learning experience provided for agricultural and natural resource students on campus.

Ms Seymour said the hands-on workshop would cover topics such as:
— Internet search tools and strategies;
— how to locate quality information; and
— how to critically evaluate information.

“A mountain of information is available on the Internet, but finding what you are looking for can be a challenge,” Ms Seymour said.

“The Open Day workshop will introduce primary producers to Internet searching and ways of finding the information they are looking for.”

Ms Seymour said participants would learn how to check that information was reliable and from reputable sources. They would also learn how to make the most efficient use of Internet sessions.

“Primary producers can save time and money and have a better Internet search experience,” Ms Seymour said.
