An overwhelming majority of University of Queensland academic staff have voted in favour of a new Enterprise Agreement. Of the 940 valid votes, 917 (97.5 percent) voted for the Agreement.
"I am pleased that the Agreement has been accepted by an overwhelming majority of staff," Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Ted Brown said.
"It brings to a close what has been a lengthy round of negotiations and I want to thank the academic staff for their patience."
The Agreement will be in place to March 31, 2003 and involves a salary increase of 13.69 percent over the life of the Agreement. The Agreement incorporates a greater but qualified commitment to job security, the option of salary packaging and defines academic freedom.
