The advantages of integrating children with disabilities into regular classrooms will be discussed at a free public lecture at The University of Queensland on Monday, March 20.
World expert on the inclusion of students with disabilities into mainstream schools, Professor Luanna Meyer, will deliver the lecture at 7.30pm in Room 206 in the Steele Building (Building 3) at the University.
Her visit is hosted by the University's Fred and Eleanor Schonell Special Education Research Centre.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the College of Education at Massey University, Professor Meyer will also discuss her new book Principles, models and practices - a description of best practice to support students with contributions from leading scholars in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
The presentation will also highlight the findings from a five-year research project focused on the outcomes of inclusive education.
The study found highly positive outcomes for students with disabilities and their peers of an inclusive education.
