UQ offers course information session

The University of Queensland will hold tertiary options sessions at the UQ Ipswich and St Lucia campuses to coincide with the release of the Year 12 OP scores.

UQ Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Trevor Grigg said the information nights would give students, who would by then know their OP scores, the opportunity to review and discuss their course options with University staff.

The deadline for school leavers to change course preferences with the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre in time for first-round offers is January 4, 2000 (by phone) and December 31, 1999 (by letter).

Professor Grigg said the session at each campus would cover the selection process, changing preferences, upgrading entry scores, and other alternative pathways for entry to University of Queensland courses.

"The information nights will inform prospective students and parents about the University, and I hope help alleviate anxiety about making decisions affecting tertiary study applications, especially for competitive courses," Professor Grigg said.

"There will be plenty of time for questions and informal discussions with University Courses and Admissions and faculty staff."

The UQ Ipswich information night will be held at the new campus at Ipswich in Building Nine on Monday, December 20 commencing at 7pm.

Entrance to UQ Ipswich is via Salisbury Road entrance and plenty of parking is available.

The St Lucia information night will be held on Wednesday, December 22 at the University's Abel Smith Lecture Theatre, St Lucia commencing at 7pm. Parking is free after 6.30pm.

Students can also call the UQ Info-Line (07 3365 2203) between 9am-5pm on the weekdays of the Christmas-New Year holiday break. The Info-Line will be closed on public holidays.
