University of Queensland students now have enhanced access to research, internship, sponsorship, exchange and orientation opportunities, thanks to the newly established Office of Undergraduate Education.
The office, which was established in March this year, is charged with ensuring undergraduate students benefit from the University’s diversity, research capacity and international and industry links.
The initial scope of activities for the Office of Undergraduate Education includes:
- Coordinating the Summer Research Program for undergraduate students
- Enhancing opportunities for industry placements, particularly in non-professional programs
- Supporting residential colleges to offer programs to students who do not live on campus
- Coordinating support for volunteer groups and sponsorship arrangements for student-led events and conferences
- Helping coordinate UQ’s transition and orientation program for new students
- Improving student access to international industry, research internships and volunteering opportunities
Professor Sushila Chang has been appointed the office’s inaugural Director, bringing expertise from leadership positions in higher education in Australia and Singapore.
