The University of Queensland will provide support to students or staff who may be affected by natural disasters which have occurred in the past few days in Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga.

The University extends its condolences and its thoughts are with those affected by recent Asia-Pacific events including typhoons, flooding, landslides, the September 30 earthquakes in Sumatra and near Samoa, and the tsunami.

Students needing support can contact Student Services on 3365 1704. Free counselling is available to all staff through Assure Programs, 1800 808 374 or email info@assureprograms.com.au

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has established a national hotline for Australians with concerns for family and friends in the affected areas. Ph: 1800 002 214.

Queensland residents seeking translation or counselling services or support due to their families being in the affected areas can also call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) for assistance.
