The Academic Director of The University of Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit Professor Tracey Bunda has been appointed to the Australasian Strategic Advisory Board (ASAB) of charity Advance HE.

The organisation works with universities across the world to improve higher education for staff, students and the community.

UQ Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry congratulated Professor Bunda, a proud Ngugi/Wakka Wakka woman, on her appointment.

“This is a wonderful acknowledgement of Professor Bunda’s outstanding track record of teaching and research,” Professor Terry said.

“Her vast experience in senior Indigenous leadership roles in the higher education sector will be of great benefit to the Board.

“I am pleased that this role will enable Professor Bunda to contribute her unique perspective to Advance HE, while representing both UQ and Australasia.”

Professor Bunda said she was looking forward to the new role.

“I will be working with ASAB members to determine key opportunities and challenges in relation to Advance HE’s strategic initiatives and partnerships in Australasia,” Professor Bunda said.

As an Advance HE member, UQ supports staff to apply for a Higher Education Academy (HEA) Fellowship through the HEA@UQ program.

Professor Bunda will commence her position on 1 August.
