UQ students will be glad to know that on-campus parking fees will not be increasing in 2008, at least not in the green zone.

In November 2007, the University Senate decided that, since most students use the green zone to service their parking needs, the casual fee of $3 per day would not go up in 2008.

The price of all annual parking permits will increase by five percent, and all casual zone fees, excluding the green zone, will increase by 8.3 percent.

Parking in yellow zone areas will increase from $2.40 per hour to $2.60 per hour, parking in the purple zone will increase from $1.20 per hour to $1.30 per hour, and pink zone parking fees (UQ Ipswich only) will increase from $1.20 to $1.30 per day.

In 2008 a new off-peak permit, valid from 5pm to 8am, will be made available for an annual fee of $62.40.

It was also agreed that staff members who hold valid permanent parking permits would be able to move their vehicles to yellow zone parking areas from 5pm each weekday, at no additional cost.
