Got a moody teen?
Teen Triple P could be the answer.
"Teen Triple P" is a new version of Triple P, the Positive Parenting Program, which has been designed specifically for parents experiencing difficulty dealing with teenagers.
Teen Triple P is currently seeking families to participate in a research project.
The project will give families the opportunity to work with practitioners one-on-one and discuss the major concerns regarding their teenager's behaviour, the reasons why they behave this way and how to develop a plan to overcome the problem.
Practitioners will then help families develop strategies for encouraging appropriate behaviour and managing problem behaviour in teens.
Currently, the program is offered free of charge as part of a research project. It is being conducted at the Parenting and Family Support Centre (PFSC) and will be supervised by Associate Professor Alan Ralph and Professor Matt Sanders, who developed Triple P.
Families would be required to participate in 10 one-on-one sessions and complete three to four assessment booklets.
Registration is open to parents with children aged between 11 and 16 who are concerned about their adolescent’s behaviour.
Sessions will be held at the UQ St Lucia campus.
Those interested in participating, or who would like more information, could visit Teen Triple P's website or contact the project co-ordinator Raziye Salari (3365 6207 or teentriplep@psy.uq.edu.au).
