A new way to network for Brisbane professionals, innovators, and entrepreneurs launches on Thursday, March 29 at 5.30pm.

UQ Business School Alumni Association presents Speed Networking for Business, a new way to build useful connections by talking to each individual in the room, in just a few minutes.

“The idea of the event is to meet as many people as possible and get to the core purpose of networking as quickly as possible, in a fun and fast-paced atmosphere”, said Peter Moutsatsos, President of the UQ Business School Alumni Association.

“Speed networking allows you to spread your message to everyone in the room in a very efficient way, getting maximum return for your investment in networking time," he said.

You come away armed with business cards that may represent new clients, prospects, new business partners, new employees, new employers, new services providers.”

UQBS Alumni Association looks to bring together representatives from small business, corporations, innovators and entrepreneurs, and students, and they don’t have to come from the University of Queensland, or be alumni.

“We want to get as many people together from different sectors and backgrounds, the more the better for building useful connections," Mr Mousatsos said.

The alumni association has some useful suggestions for speed networking participants on the night.

• Think through key messages about your product or service, your business idea or what you want to gain from the meeting

• Bring plenty of business cards

The alumni president said that should participants run out of business cards blank cards would be provided on the night, along with two drinks, finger food and door prizes through the event, all for $20.
