Students have selected a University of Queensland institute as one of the top three university English language centres in Australia.

UQ’s Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education (ICTE-UQ) has been named in the 2016 i-graduate English Language Barometer, which polled students internationally.

Students responded to questions covering topics across learning, living, support and arrival, relevant to their experience of their chosen English language centre in January to March of this year.

The ICTE-UQ building was ranked as number one, and the picturesque campus environment was ranked as number two globally.

It was named a top five university English language centre in Australia for each of the overall performance criteria for learning, living, support and arrival.

Director Julian Wilson said the results positioned ICTE-UQ in the top 20 English language centres globally, making it an attractive institution for students from all around the world.

“We are very proud of being ranked as a top-three university English language centre in Australia and top 20 globally.

“It is a recognition of the hard-work, dedication and professionalism of the ICTE-UQ team.

“Through this survey we can better understand our students’ journey and experience, and we can ensure we provide the right resources and education to meet their needs in a positive learning and living environment.”

The English language barometer survey is available in 11 languages, and has input from almost 14,000 132 English language centre students from around the world.
