A language teaching diploma developed by The University of Queensland, the University of Cambridge and US-based World Learning has won “premium” endorsement from a global assurance body.

The International Diploma of Language Teaching Management  (IDLTM) is the first diploma the Sydney-based organisation NEAS has named as a “premium product”.

UQ Institute of Continuing and TESOL Education director Ms Christine Bundesen said more than 130 teachers and academic managers had completed the diploma since 2000.

“ICTE-UQ has delivered IDLTM training in Australia and Vietnam and will soon deliver inaugural programs in China,” Ms Bundesen said.

She said ICTE-UQ was committed to supporting the ongoing quality assurance and development of the English language training sector, and welcomed the NEAS accolade.

NEAS chief executive Mark Raven said the diploma addressed the Australian and international sector’s need for skilled managers with industry-relevant expertise.

“The NEAS premium product endorsement scheme identifies and celebrates exceptional products and services developed by the English language training sector,” Mr Raven said.

“It allows providers to showcase their competitive advantage and gives students and professionals working in the sector confidence they are choosing a quality product.”

The scheme, and the endorsement of IDLTM as its premier premium product, was formally launched at the NEAS annual conference in Sydney this month. (

IDLTM was developed, and is jointly awarded by ICTE-UQ in Australia, Cambridge University English Language Assessment in the UK, and World Learning’s SIT Graduate Institute in the USA.

NEAS is a global leader in English language teaching quality assurance, and has more than 220 accredited centres in Australia, South-East Asia and the Middle East.
