Dr Jane Wilson is The University of Queensland’s new Deputy Chancellor.

The 22-member University of Queensland Senate elected Dr Wilson to the position on 27 February.

Her term will run from 2014 to 2017.

The appointment follows the retirement of Adjunct Professor Mary Mahoney AO from Senate.

Adjunct Professor Mahoney served two terms as Deputy Chancellor, from 1996 to 1998 and from 2010 to 2013. 

Dr Wilson has been a Governor-In-Council appointee on the University Senate since 2006.

She is a registered General Practitioner and holds a medical degree from UQ and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Her career has spanned finance, banking and medicine, and she has more than 20 years of boardroom experience as a director of companies, government-owned corporations and non-profit organisations.

She was appointed as one of 12 members of the Prime Minister's Business Advisory Council last year.
