The University of Queensland’s Institute of Continuing & TESOL Education (ICTE-UQ) has won a Hong Kong Australia Business Association (HKABA) Queensland Chapter Business Development Award.
ICTE-UQ was presented with the award at a gala ceremony in Brisbane city on 20 September 2013.
ICTE-UQ Deputy Director Mr David Nelson said the Institute’s success has been driven by the establishment of a global network of more than 100 university, government and corporate partners in over 25 countries.
“The Institute’s ‘Power of Partnership’ strategy has been applied to strong effect in Hong Kong, Macau and China where ICTE-UQ works very closely with more than 15 partners,” Mr Nelson said.
Mr Nelson said more than 3000 students and professionals from Hong Kong, Macau and China have benefited from customised ICTE-UQ English language, English teacher training, professional development, and workplace transition programs.
ICTE-UQ has also assisted thousands of students from Hong Kong, Macau and China to fulfil aspirations to undertake UQ degree and study abroad programs through intensive English language training and testing pathways.
The Institute was named as a finalist in a further two award categories including ‘Business Excellence’, and ‘Exporting of Goods and/or Services to Hong Kong and China’.
ICTE-UQ Director Ms Christine Bundesen AM was named as a finalist in the Employee Excellence category.
ICTE-UQ Deputy Director Mr Nelson said, “Being named as a finalist in four of the award’s five categories is a huge honour for ICTE-UQ and a testament to the strength of our partnership model in supporting international engagement.”
The HKABA Queensland Chapter Business Awards are supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Invest Hong Kong, Trade and Investment Queensland and the Queensland State Government.
This is the first year ICTE-UQ has entered the awards program.
