The University of Queensland’s School of Political Science and International Studies will announce winners of its photography competition at an award ceremony on Wednesday, October 24.

The School’s Engagement Committee chair Dr Matt McDonald said the competition, which included a film category for the first time, attracted an outstanding field of entries.

“The competition is in its fourth year and the standard of entries continues to amaze us,” Dr McDonald said.

“The photographs have been taken in countries across the globe and offer a unique reflection of life from the traumatic to the optimistic.

“The competition aims to visually showcase the interest, which students, staff and alumni at UQ have, in politics and global issues.”

The School now has a collection of more than 40 photographs, many of which will be on display alongside this year’s shortlisted entries at the award ceremony.

Selected images and shortlisted entries from the competition can be viewed on the School’s webpage.

Norac Information and Technology Management have donated a Canon EOS1100 DSLR as the first prize for the Photography category and Art Land, Indooroopilly are framing the shortlisted images and supplying the People’s Choice Award.

The Awards are to be held in the Innes Room, Student Union Complex, St Lucia Campus from 4-6pm on Wednesday, 24 October.
